Frequently Asked Questions

What IS a Jump Page? A Jump Page is the page that you will usually bookmark as your Home Page. It is the page that you start from. Your N17 Jump Page has been designed so that you can control what is on it. You can change all the links to the links that you use most of the time. Your N17 page also has an RSS Feed on it. We have many feeds for you to choose from so hopefully you will find one that you like. Your Jump Page also travels with you. Anywhere you are, if you have internet access you can go to your Jump Page and there are your links ready to be used.

What is the difference between Public and Private? When you first create your account, your privacy setting is set for Public view. When your page is set for 'Public' viewing that means anyone can go to your page and view it with it's current settings. If you change the privacy to 'Private' then you must be logged into and own that account/page before you can view the page. Having your page set to Public means you can bookmark the page and not have to log in to access your links. If you want to make any changes to your page you will need to log in.

How do I set my 'Jump Page' as my Home Page? In most browsers you can go to 'Tools' at the top of the browser page, then Internet Options, then the Main/General tab and you should see 'Use Current' button in the Home Page section. Clicking the 'Use Current' button should set the current page you are viewing as your Home Page. Remember that you need to be on/viewing your Jump Page before you click 'Use Current' to make your Jump Page your Home Page.

How do I make my links open a new tab instead of a new browser window? In IE 7 new pages are opened in new windows by default. To change this, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings button under tabs section on the General Tab. Finally, under the heading "When a pop-up is encountered", choose Always open pop-ups in a new tab.
In Mozilla Firefox you choose Tools at the top, then Options, then click Tabs, then check the radio button 'a new tab' under 'New pages should be opened in:'.
Most other browsers will be similar to these.
